File acpi.sys caused an unexpected error (1024)

I have a new Inspiron E1705 w/ xp pro. In order to do a "fresh" install without all the junk Dell puts on it, I installed Partition Magic 8 -- reformated the "C" drive, as well as making 3 additional partions. I left the sectors as NTS. I then booted from my dvd with the Dell reinstall XP Pro disc. I can only get to this point in the set up:

 

"File acpi.sys caused an unexpected error (1024) at line 5964 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c.

 

Press any key to continue."

 

Any ideas as to what this mean & how can I resolve the problem.   Thanks in advance..
