Yes you are right!!!!! however i wanted to slipstream my disk with SP2 since Dell made a right mock out of the original disk which left me in a place that i could not slipstream (i have the IR594 disk). Therefore i have a new Windows XP disk with SP2 and will use the same product key, but i want to have the same experience of not having to activate or type in my product key as if i used my original CD.

LtoThaY,

This may be what you are looking for. It seems to be a lot of trouble just to avoid a one-time activation via the Internet for your new copy of XP.

LtoThaY,

If you have lost the original CD with XP that came with your system and you have a new copy of XP (which I assume is the reason you acquired a new copy) install the new copy, activate it, and you're done. If you haven't lost the original CD simply slipstread SP2 and the OEM copy of XP onto a new CD and you're also done.

I know of no way to transform a retail copy of XP into a clone of an OEM version of XP which you received with your computer, which is apparently what you wish to accomplish.

Ok thanks for the link. Now maybe im missing something here. When i spoke to the useless people working at Dell and told them about slipstreaming they said to me to "borrow" or buy a new CD - they hinted me to borrow more than buy. I was then told when the CD asks for the product key i enter my licensed product key (the one i bought with my system with Dell). They then said i would be required to activate the copy and if i was to copy my .wpa files from my original disk it should avoid activation and be as if it my original CD.

Now the new CD is different from the Dell CD so are you saying that i would need to do what is said on jsiinc's website - then copy those files over to my drive and then burn it again??

Can i just not modify the CD as is and copy the relevant files so it does the same thing as my original CD then burn it - why - because thats the way i require it.

I dont mean to be rude to anyone but Dell caused this problem - then they wouldnt help me to A. either give me another disk that didnt have slipstreaming problem B. Tell me what to do to avoid the "usbehci.sys is corrupt error". Either case its not the service i received 3 years ago when i bought my system.

You haven't explained why you can't slipstream your Dell XP CD.   Is it because you do not know how?  Have you tried the many posts on this forum that explain how to slipstream Dell's XP?

I understand now.  Can you borrow a different Dell XP CD from a friend to make the slipstreamed XP SP2?

Glad you understood what the problem is........I have friends that have XP and successfully slipstreamed SP2 however they have home edition (I have pro). The only friend that has pro does not have a Dell CD and i think he purchased it from Microsoft's website, which is why i wanted to know about what files i require so i can copy those over.
