Firewire problems under SP2

Since I got no response on the special interest board I was hoping the Windows XP experts may have an answer for me.  I successfully captured many of my miniDV tapes from my Panasonic DVcamcorder to my hard drive using the Adaptec Fireconnect 4300 card and the WinDV program.  That was when I still had WinXP SP1.  Now that I installed the SP2 upgrade, I get numorous dropped frames.  I also used to get a single AVI file after capture.  Now I get about 40 avi files for a 15 minute video capture.   I installed the supposed firewire fix patch from Microsoft which did not do anything.   The Microsoft instructions for editing the registry did not work either because the path that was to lead me to the intended folder was not there.  From my internet searches I have found that it may be that the transfer speed is defaulting back to 100 instead of the needed 400.   I also read that it may be possible to revert back to the older firewire drivers from SP1 (which defaults to 400), but I cannot find the instructions on how to do that.  Can anyone help with this problem.

There is no driver available to roll back to in device manager and the Adaptec download only applies to specific software.   I am still hoping that someone has an answer to this frustration of not being able to capture from my camcorder anymore.

This is a quote from the Adaptec site

"Note: Only drivers that are not included or embedded within a supported operating system are listed below."

In other words we are not going to allow access to our drivers that you need.

I think I would toss the adaptec card and get one with real support..

I uninstalled the card in device manager but also changed a setting in WinDV.  After a reboot it seems everything is back to normal.  Thanks for everyone's help.
