What are you trying to do? Are you trying to have the computer scan for viruses once a week for example, or are you trying to get it to run to update for viruses?

My parents machine had that problem.  The McAfee help line talked me through how to resolve.  I deleted all scheduled tasks waited 20 minutes, rebooted, then added them back in and they worked.

My updater works...scanning for viruses does not.

AllynKC- That worked?  I have other scheduled tasks that have nothing to do with McAfee.  Do I have to delete them, too?  And now your parent's virus scan occurs regularly, including waking up to run if the computer is in power management?  Do they have an 8300 running XP Pro?  Please let me know!!  Thanks!

amajamer,

I was working on their machine when I visited them at Christmas, so going from meory here.  I was having troubles with McAfee Internet Security; neither the virus scan nor the security scan would work when scheduled.  After doing the above, both would work and correctly start when scheduled.  It has been over a month, so I can't recall if it launched while in power management - although their power management isn't set to go into either standby or hibernation mode.  They are on it so often, it made more sense just to use low-level power management (monitor and hard drive).

I think they had a 4550 w/ XP home.  They didn't have anything scheduled except McAfee at the time (I added a few afterwards though).

Well, that sounds promising.  It still runs regularly?  I only use monitor and hard drive management settings, as well.  I will give it a try!  Thanks very much!!

Another question:  Did you replace the virusscan scheduled task via the McAfee Scheduled scan or in the Scheduled tasks folder directly?
