Help/advice using CCleaner

Question

I am considering using CCleaner to clean my system.  I did an analysis and it was a little intimidating all the files it pulled up.  I dont think I am going to run the registry clean, but what about the cleaner?  Is it pretty safe to run as is?  How about the applications part?  I would appreciate any input form CCleaner users.

I let it do the cleanup stuff and have never had a problem. I would never let anything "automated" touch the registry.

i agree with the comments of the above poster, i use it to clean up my pc's clutter...however i have used it clean the registry and had no problems to date,but i would recommend you only do this very sparingly, if at all.

Yes CCleaner can and will return a load of stuff when it's used for the first time on a PC that has not been kept clean.   CCleaner will not clean your P.C. completely, it will clean certain areas of it. Use CCleaner in conjunction with other utilities and good P.C. user habits will help you keep your P.C. healthy.   I use CCleaner on two PC's one a custom built $$$ and one an old Dell (still runs like new).  Never a problem with CCleaner.  I would never use a registry cleaner of any type on any of my P.C.'s. What about the applications portion of the cleaner.  Should I have any concerns running it?  For example, do I want to clean my zone alarm logs, utilities such as antivirus programs, or under windows the MS management console and RegEdit?  Are all of the listed areas safe to clean?  Thanks.

Thanks.   I use CCleaner under the Application Settingd to purge general  files like word pad etc. I would  clean out antivirus logs, and RegEdit by hand. You will know what you are throwing away.
