Help with Word Processor on Vista
As with many people the new computer that I have with windows vista home premium only has Microsoft Works Word Processor so I had to install Word (the 2002 version). My computer still tries to open word documents with the Works program and doesn't give me the option to open it with Word, which makes me have to download the file, save it to a folder, open it with works and then save it in the .doc format in order to re-open it in Word. Does this make sense and can you help me?

click on control panel. Click on the default programs icon. in the box that pops up select associate a file or protocal with a progrm.
when the list loads scroll down to the .doc extension and click on it . click on the change button in the next box chose Microsoft word and click ok
