Help with restoring a Microsoft Money File from an older version

I have recently purchased a new computer running Windows XP Professional.  I have Microsoft Money 2000 installed on this machine.

My old computer was physically destroyed in a fire.  However, I have a backup file from that machine.  The old machine was running Windows Me and I'm not sure what version of Microsoft Money it had, but I thought it was Money 2000.

When I tried to restore from the backup, Money 2000 could not open the backup file because Money said the backup was from an older version.

Is there a way to get my data into the new computer and running on Money 2000?

You can convert data files, but not older version backup files :smileysad:

You will need to instal the old version of MM , restore the old backup file you have, then export the data as Files rather than a all in one backup, then copy the data files over to the new PC and convert them.

Figuring out what version the backup was made with is another story.
