How Do I Create a Drive Image Backup Using Norton Save & Restore?
I have Norton "Save & Restore 2.0" on my Vista Home Premium system. It came pre-installed on my system (Dell Inspiron 530s) along with Vista and several other applications. I have added two 500 GB external hard drives to my system and am trying to configure S&R to do a drive image backup (Using the Norton Ghost Functionality of "S&R 2.0" instead of a backup in backup/restore format). Supposedly “S&R 2.0” contains the same functionality as Ghost 10 so I figured I should be able to do this. My plan was to copy complete drive images to each external HD so I would have a complete drive image on two different external hard drives at any given time.
I can’t figure out how to do this however. If I go to “tasks” in Norton Save & Restore, that only gives me the option to “Run or Manage Backups” or to do a “One Time Backup”. These are apparently in backup/restore format and not drive image format however. The only other option I can find is to go to “Tools” then “Copy My Hard Drive” which I assumed provides the drive image copy.
“Copy My Hard Drive” does not allow me the capability of copying my entire hard drive however. It only lets me copy one logical drive at a time (such as the “C:” drive). “My Computer” has several logical drives which need copying for a complete drive image however. For example, there is also a “D:” drive and an “E:” drive. Since I apparently can’t copy multiple drives using the “Copy My Hard Drive” function, I can copy only one of the logical drive on my system to the external hard drive.
For example, I can copy the “C:” drive but not the “D:” or “E:” drives. Furthermore, there are other Vista folders (such as “Desktop”, “Documents”, etc.) that don’t get picked up in a copy that includes only the “C:” drive.
So, can someone tell me how to use Norton Save & Restore 2.0 to do a drive image copy on my computer? Can what I am trying to do be done? If so…how? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Norton Save & Restore 10 has a file called "restoreghost.exe" which is symantec ghost 8.2 corporate edition. I made a copy of that file and renamed it to ghost32.exe.
That file is a windows version of ghost and work good with "Bart PE" as well as the S&R emergency boot CD that came with "Save & Restore 10". I think you will still
have same problem with logical drives, but you can make image of each one and save them. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. I had incorrectly referred to Norton "Save & Restore" as "Save & Restore 10" in my previous message when it should have said "Save & Restore 2.0". I have edited that message to make those corrections. Also, it's beginning to look as if "pre-version 11" editions of Norton Ghost will let me do a drive image backup of one logical drive (for example the "C:") but not let me backup folders such as "Documents",etc.
It is starting to look to me that to do what i am attempting (i.e. do a complete backup of "My Computer" in drive image format instead of backup/restore format, I will need to either purchase a later version of Norton Ghost or the current edition of Acronis True Image. If there *is* a way to do a complete drive image backup of "My Computer" using Norton Save & Restore 2.0, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks.
