How can I start the Routing and Remote Access service on Vista Home Premium?

I  have Windows Vista Home Premium.
When I try to start the Routing and Remote Access service, I see the
fllowing error message:
"The Routing and Remote Access service on Local Computer started and then
stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other
services or programs."
On Event viewer, I see the event ID 20103 : Unable to load
C:\Windows\System32\iprtrmgr.dll.
Can you help?

I did all steps except the number 4.

I still have the same problem.

Can you give me the detailed steps on how to remove and reinstall TCP/IP in Vista?

Start Registry Editor

Go into the start menu, and then follow one of the two procedures:

1. Type "Run" (without quotes) into the search box at the bottom of the start menu. Then, click on the "Run" result that appears. Type "regedit" into the box in the small window and click OK. You are in the registry.

2. Click on "Programs". Then, go into "Accessories" > "Run". Type "regedit" into the box in the small window and click OK. You are in the registry.

1. and then verify that the following registry key is present:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RemoteAccess\RouterManagers\IP

If this registry key is present, verify that it contains the following three values:

• Value name: DLLPath
Data type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value data: %SystemRoot%\System32\Iprtrmgr.dll

• Value name: GlobalInfo
Data type: REG_BINARY
Value data: The data varies between computers

• Value name: ProtocolID
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 0x21 (Hexadecimal)

2. If the registry key and values that are described in step 1 exist, verify that Iprtrmgr.dll is located in the path that is specified.

3. If the file exists and the path is correct, reinstall the modem:

a. Disable the Routing and Remote Access service.

b. Use Device Manager to uninstall the modem.

c. Restart the server and wait for the Plug and Play process to redetect the modem.

d. Enable the Routing and Remote Access service.

4. If the problem is not resolved after you reinstall the modem, remove and reinstall Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

5. Start the Remote Registry service if it is not running:

a. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

b. Locate the Remote Registry service in the right pane.

c. Right-click the service, and then click Start

When I went to "Programs and features", there was no networking component to remove. And when I went to the properties of my wireless adapter, The uninstall button of TCP/IP is gray so I can't uninstall it.

So I didn't go to the registry because I'm afraid this document is too different from Windows Vista.

Nice drawing. But which feature in this window? I think windows components in Vista are different than the one in Windows 2000.

Thanks for your efforts.

I don't think there is a remote access policy in Vista Home Premium. Probably yes in Vista Ultimate.

Maybe the Routing and Remote Access service can't start in Vista Home Premium? But it's strange that they put it in services.

Do you have Vista Home Premium? If yes, you could start it yourself to see.
