How do I make a screenshot?

Hi, I was just wondering, how do I make a screen shot?  I'm using Inspiron 6000 with windows xp.  I've tried pressing the prnt scrn button.  I've tried that same button with using alt.  I've tried it with Fn.  I've even tried Fn + Insert.  I just want to be able to take a picture of something that I drew on a websight that won't allow me to save it any other way and that's the way they recommend doing it.  Please help!  I'd really appricate it!  Thank you!

After you press Prnt Scrn or Alt+Print Scrn(for active windows), open MS Paint and select Edit from the tool bar and then select Paste.

The prnt scrn key copies the image to the clipboard.  You then have to open a program that will allow editing of bitmap images and paste the image into that program.  Microsoft Paint is such a program.  Once in the program then you can save the file as a .bmp, .jpg, or .gif file.  See the following:

You may want to look at TechSmith's SNAGIT software if you frequently make screen shots. It's much more powerful that just using Prt Scr.
