How to Smooth Font Edges?

I read in another thread that one way of improving font visibility is to mark "smooth edges of fonts" in config settings.  I've seen this setting but can't for the life of me remember where nor can I find it after much searching.  Can someone help me locate the setting on my PC (using XP in home setting w. LAN/ISP).

Control panel, system, Advanced tab under Performance, click settings, Visual effects tab, check the entry 'smoothe edges of screen fonts'.

You could also try right click desktop, Appearance tab, effects select clear type in the second box.

thanks.   NO wonder I couldn't find it!  ClearType is an amazing improvement esp. for an LCT screen.
