Go to the pearl (Start) right click on Computer, and then go to properties. You will see there how much Memory you have.

To add more RAM will be depending the system you have... Go to sypport.dell.com go to Manuals, enter your Service Tag, and you will se the manuals for your computer... Go to the section Add / Replace...

I'd suggest determining what kind you need, and then buying the RAM elsewhere. Let me just say you might save a little green if you do so ;)

what model Dell computer do you have?

www.crucial.com just enter your system info...

Everything you need to know and better prices than Dell. It is also certified to work in your system.

Yea I used Crucial.com to upgrade my Dimension 4600 a couple years ago, and then to help my sister upgrade her Dell a year ago..

Worked like a charm in both cases. Can't go wrong there.

When I went to r-click on Start, Properties. . . .the only thing that came up was the taskbar and start menu properties.  I didnt see any ram.  This is from my Dell invoice:

Inspiron 600m,14.1 XGA,1.5GHz, with 32MB Video

FREE UPGRADE! 384MB,266MHz, 2DIMM (from 256MB,266MHz,

2DIMM)

30GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive for Inspiron 600m

Does that say how much Ram I have, and which number is it?

Thanks.

to find out how much RAM you have installed either download the Belarc Advisor (tells you EVERYTHING about you computer), or do the following

either find the "my computer" icon on your desktop, right click it, click properties, and voila.

or start menu > right click my computer > properties

basically find a my computer icon and right click then click properties.

Belarc advisor is pretty neat too though.

Well I think you missed one step... You don´t have to r-click on the Start (pearl) you have to l-click on START then r-click on computer, and you should see the properties...
Other way you have, is click on the START then type on the Start Search and type Welcom Center, you´ll see in there the version of Vista you have the processor speed and the amount of RAM...
