I can't change my desktop display - backgrounds browse button grayed out
It is totally bizarre - I cannot change the picture on my desktop background. It used to work, but now it won't let me. If I go into display properties, desktop all of the options are grayed out and it won't let me click on any of the background choices. All of my other things work like screen saver, screen resolution etc... I have a Dell Dimension 3000, Windows XP. Even if I go into my pictures and try to save one as a background it won't do that either. Help!! I can't figure out how to get it to work!

First I would advise to do a full virus scan. Could be a trojan causing this.
I found this http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/134887.html
This guy got a similar problem to yours, he got it fixed by the advice he found there.
Good luck.
