There is no boot.ini with Vista or Win 7. They both use a different boot manager-- boot configuration data (BCD). The windows boot editor for vista and 7 is BCDedit and must be run from a command prompt with Administrator privileges. It's best to research this before doing anything.

Easy BCD is a free utility that can help you remove xp from the dual boot easier.

Hi also to what Mary is saying. Type config at the start, then click on the system Configuration label, then click on the boot tab to make sure that the Win Vista is your Default OS.
