IE7 weird font sizes

Question

Hello,   I transferred my favorites to my Vista computer from my XP computer so I am aware of what all my regular websites are supposed to look like.   Using IE7 on my Vista computer with a 22' wide screen monitor causes the fonts to be displayed in various (and different as displayed on my XP computer) sizes.  For example, some web pages have tiny fonts mixed with huge fonts.  Other web pages have all tiny fonts.  Some webpages with tiny fonts have subsequent pages (login pages, for example) with huge fonts.  Some of the fonts are too big to fit in the boxes they have obviously been designed to fit in and then appear truncated.   I have played with View/Test Size and some fonts on the page can be manipulated in size and sometimes it makes not difference whatsoever and sometimes only part of the page enlarges.  Using Ctrl and the mouse wheel will enlarge the whole page, including the already huge fonts, so it does not solve my problem.   Talking with Dell Tech Support has provided me with an answer of 'a probable combination of factors between Vista and the website design'.   I have my monitor set to its recommended resolution of 1680x1050 and am using the DVI cable.  I have tried other resolutions that make the fonts bigger but cause them to be blurry.    Any suggestions?   Thank you.

I had a problem similar to yours. I upgraded my 400 to Vista Home Premium using a retail version of Windows Vista Premium. When I tried to print out a web page thru Internet Explorer 7, what would print out was nothing that was on the web page but all script the fonts being the size of a pin head. I didn't get no large fonts just microscopic fonts.     Called Microsoft and went through a series of tests to no avail, the following day a higher level tech person was supposed to call me to try and get things sorted out.     In the meantime I reformatted and reinstalled Vista and the problem went away. I think that would of been the final solution that the higher level tech guy would of told me to do.         Hope you get your problem solved. BTW it felt good speaking to a Microsoft tech person that I could understand even though I didn't get my problem solved at the time. Didn't you get a Reinstallation CD when you got your computer. There are a bunch of web sites that tell you exactly how to do it.                Andrew

I also havea XPS 410 that came with a preinstalled Vista Premium. It has a Recovery D Drive which If I want to reinstall I could just use the Recovery Drive which will bring my computer back to the original configuration that it left the factory. I don't know if your PC has that feature. Take a look you might have it. It's called 'Recovery Drive D'

My whole web page would appear microscopic on the screen also besides being printed out that way. I don't think even Microsoft would of figured out the problem that's why I reformatted and reinstalled and hoped for the best and it worked. BTW If I printed out using AOL there wasn't any problem                                      Andrew

My computer came with Vista Business pre-installed so I can't blame it on a Vistal install upgrade unless the computer was delivered to me with this problem.  I have not seen anyone else write about this problem so I am at a loss about what to do.  Dell Tech Support has not heard about this problem either and is unable to help me.   BTW, the small and large fonts appear on screen and are printed as seen on screen so it was not just a printing issue for me (if I understand you correctly).

It must be a Windows/IE7 problem then.   How would I reformat and reinstall a preinstalled version of Vista?
