INSPIRON8600 WONT BOOT TO XP

I have a inspiron 8600 with xp home and 40 GB hd 512 mb ram It also has the parallel & serial conectors on back .It goes through the bios then it wont boot to the operating system. I have tried the 32 bit diagnostics and the all come back as passing. I have also tried pressing F8 to get to safe mode and that does not even come up. I can only access the boot menu F12 ans setup F when finished going through the bios the screen goes gray however the diagnostics show  full video colors ect. I have tried to boot from an xp pro Sp2 Disk and all it does is start by inspecting hardware configuration then nothing. Please any suggestions would be appreciated
