IPHLPAPI.DLL file trouble

Question

I continue to receive the message 'The IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start. Check the file to determine the problem'.  I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop with Windows ME.  I contacted Microsoft and they gave me a download to replace that file.  I cannot replace the file, however, because when I try, it says that file is password protected and cannot be moved or replaced.  So far, Microsoft has not been able to help.  Does anyone have an idea as to the problem and how to fix it?  What problems can be caused by an IPHLPAPI.DLL file that cannot start?    Thanks.

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

Try going to http://www.google.com and doing a seach on that file name. Several articles with numerous solutions should come up. Just look through those and see which one best covers your situation.

Did you recently install aol9? If so,revert to a earlier version. Mike
