ISScript.msi error when downloading iTunes

I am trying to download the newest version of iTunes but I keep getting an error message "the ISScript.msi is to old on this system to install"  All the advice I follow on Google doesn't help.  Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I have an Inspiron 600M that is about 2 years old running Windows XP

This iPod is useless until I can figure this out

I have read it and tried to download the script that is suggested.  Either it doesn't work or else I am downloading it wrong.  It says if the version starts with a 7 download that script.  Well since its iTunes version 7.5 then I downloaded script 7.  Is there a special way to open it onto my computer?  I have just been downloading it then opening it and nothing seems to happen after it "installs"

Thanks

I believe the number they refer to is the version of InstallShieldScript that's on your system, not to the version of iTunes. ;)
