Check IE Tools / Internet Options / Advanced, in the Multimedia section, whether "Show pictures" is checked.

BondDesign,

You state, "Other images and pictures will show, just not the thumbnails."

In the source code for the last URL you listed as a problem, the HTML for the thumbnail of the first attorney's image is:

.

If you are able to see other *.jpg images you should be able to see this one.

Denny,

Yes, I agree...I should.

The only problem is when I check the source code on my computer, this is what I see:

There is no:

behind it....

Why would that be?  And what can I do?

Thanks in advance.

BondDesign,

Something resident on your computer is interacting with the HTML to prevent the image from being displayed (and its HTML to be discounted). It may be spyware, and if you don't routinely check for that download Ad-aware from here, Spybot from here and Microsoft AntiSpyware from here. Check online for updates to their databases then run them and delete all the spyware they identify.

It also may be due to a browser helper object which may have been installed without your knowledge. The download here will let you examine the BHOs that are installed and possibly determine if one of them is causing the glitch.

Well, thanks anyway, Denny.

I tried all of that (I already had the spyware protection).  Checked all of them and downloaded the BHO examination.  Still no help.

I'm totally confused.  This is a brand new Dell computer and I'm pretty good with HTML and troubleshooting.  This one's got me at the moment.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.  I'll get it eventually.

JSB

BondDesign,

It's no help for your problem, but at least one other user is experiencing the same symptoms. See this.

Longshot, but if you use Internet Explorer, Tools, Manage Add-ons.
Disable them all, restart IE, then try to view your images.

If it doesn't help, re-enable all important add-ons.

I hope you figure it out.

Alternative? Download Firefox or Opera.(Use Google.com to find the links) They are free browsers.

That is odd. Maybe it's your Host files, or Security center. Do you have Norton Internet security?? (or similar?)

Try ths, another longshot:

Go to start---Run

Type in   (or copy and paste)

%windir%\NOTEPAD.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\HOSTS

OK.

Look at entries next to 127.0.0.1   Maybe there is an entry that is messing things up.

do you have anything, like for example:
**************************************************************************************
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host
127.0.0.1       localhost
127.0.0.1 global.msads.net
127.0.0.1 g.msn.com
***********************************************************************************************
The entries next to 127.0.0.1 blocks addresses that are next to it (good for blocking ads)

Thanks,

I had no add-ons to manage so I couldn't disable or enable anything. I've tried searching all day for any help with this...but, no luck yet.

I even tried the old HijackThis and now there are no BHOs left to delete, so that didn't work either.  There was no Yahoo BHO.

Hmmmm...I have Firefox and guess what?  No thumbnail images on there either.  This is interesting.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for everyone's help.

I don't have the entries at the bottom you have.(10.10.10.2 primary
10.10.10.3 secondary) Maybe if you delete those, maybe it will work.

Great,

I'll try that...How do I go about deleting them?

Thanks.

Highlight the entries, and hit the delete button on your keyboard.

If you cannot save it after deleting, the file is read only. You'll have to change it by unchecking the "reads only" attribute.

Cannot guarantee you'll see images, but it's worth a shot.

Well, I tried many combinations of that.

Deleting them all together...nothing
Adding the same numbers for local, primary, and secondary....nothing.

I'm confused.  Should I just call Dell or is there anything else I can try?

Thanks again.

I think you should call Dell. They will probably have you restore your computer with the restore partition, or do a clean format and install. (That's what they had me do everytime I had a problem)

Make sure you back-up stuff you don't want to lose before you do.
