Importing wordperfect 8 into microsoft word
Can't get a handle on importing my address book from 3.5" .abx files to MS word. The files were exported from wordperfect 8.
Second Q. When I loaded Corel wp 8 into this computer and go to use the address book I get a error saying can't find MAPI file.

Try exporting as a CSV file instead. CSV=Comma separated values--Word will be able to read & import that.
PS Don't install WP8 on an XP computer.

Thanks Mary G.
Allready tried that, whenever XP looks at Address book from anywhere it thinks of Outlook express's addresses. I need these contacts real bad and in a hurry. Tax time uknow. If all else fails out comes XP and back to ME.

To try it, I created a .cvs file containing addresses and had no problems getting mailmerge in Word to use it as an address data base. (Word 2002). The vfirst line should have the field names, separated by commas, but when you convert the .abx files, I think that should happen automatically. Put the .cvs file (or a short cut to it) in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\My Documents\My Data Sources. In Word, mailmerge, click on the open data source button and select the .cvs file. If you then click on the select recipients button, all the fields in your address book should be available.
You can insert mailmerge fields into the document, or use insert address block (and there match fields to those in the .cvs file) in the normal way.
Personally, I use Word tables, but Excel spreadsheets and .cvs files are fine, as is the Office Outlook Personal address book (.pab).
