Inspiron 8600 100% memory usage

Hi,

I have had this laptop for more than 5 months however recently it seems to be really sluggish. At times even if I am not running any application the CPU usage goes to 100% and working with IE become practically impossible. I could not load pages quickly, it was stop responding etc. So I downloaded Ad-Aware and Spybot to clean my system. After running both utilities and cleaning up files recomended by them I restarted my laptop. Unfortunately instead of resolving my issues it made it worse. Now my IE would not work at all. So I restored my system to the point were it was working.

When I check the task manager I see certain processes taking huge CPU time e .g psjava.exe and tpimws.exe take between 40 and 90% of CPU time. If I kill both the processes they automatically restart. If I see performace chart on task manager it is really erratic.

One of the reason why my IE does not work properly is because above processes is taking so much CPU time that IE never gets the chance to use it.

Please let me know what to do to remediate this issue. Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks

First, go to www.trendmicro.com and click "Free online scan". This will take a few minutes for it to download and run. When it does, scan all available drives.

After that, download and run "HiJackThis"; version 1.98.2. Click "Scan", then "Save log", Copy/past the text that comes up in notepad, and post it back. Close notepad.

Don't fix anything just yet, most of what it reports is 'good'. we're going to use it to try and determine what is running on your system that could be causing the problem.

While we're reviewing that log, check "Add/Remove programs" for entries that you didn't directly install yourself, like "NewDotNet". Be sure not to 'remove' any system software or 'hot fixes'. If your not sure about an entry, just post it back, and we'll help you with it.

Mike.
