Install/Uninstalling software issue

Okay, I'm wondering if anyone has this problem.

I just bought my Dell XPS 420 and got it on Friday. It's Monday and already there are some really annoying problems.

My major issue is the fact that I can't really uninstall/install programs. The installshield and/or windows installer will just hang there forever, showing no signs it's gonna move? is this a problem with a certain piece of software? I have zonealarm and AVG Free anti-virus but it hasn't acted up with it. PC-Cillin is one of the programs I've tried to uninstall with absolutely no success.

Anyone else have this problem and have a fix?

(HINT: I will NOT accept "Just re-install windows" as an answer. A computer only 4 days old should NOT need to be re-installed.)
