Installing Windows Movie Maker from SP2

How do I install Movie Maker? This program does not show up in the 'Install windows component' and I haven't been able to find any instructiions. There are a number of movie maker files on the distribution disk but no hint as to what to do with them. Any help would be appreciated.

According to the download instructions, movie maker 2.1 is bundled with SP2. I cannot find a download anywhere. Since I already have SP2 installed and I apparently have the MM files, it should be easy to just install it from the distribution disk. The problem is, I don't know how and my search for instructions has been fruitless.

I appreciate the help but I am obviously not looking in the right place - I can't find a download for only MM 2.1 anywhere.

The link gets me to the this: "Movie Maker 2.1 is available for download with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)". This seems to imply that it is part of SP2.

Here are the files on the distribution disk relating to MM. They should expand to exe, inf, chm, and dll files. My problem still is - what do I do with them? I assume that's exactly what I'd get from the SP2/MM download and still no hint on how to install MM.

Movie Maker was not installed when I bought this computer. Not knowing that it was hidden in SP2, I downloaded MM 2.0 from Microsoft.

The 2.0 version turned into a total disaster. It had problems from the beginning and now it is only partially functional. The biggest problem is that it cannot be uninstalled or reinstalled correctly.

That's why I'd like to get a 2.1 version running hoping that the bugs have been fixed. BTW, I never got an update alert for MM through the MS automatic update service.

I managed to install MM 2.1 and it seems to be working. However, a major problem I had with MM 2.0 has now migrated to MM 2.1.

Pictures (jpg and bmp) will not display on the preview pane when playing the timeline nor in any final movie. I get a blank screen instead. The pictures can be imported, previewed, and dragged to the timeline correctly. All other MM functions seem to work correctly.

The vanishing picture problem happened suddenly during a movie making session with MM2.0 and I don't remember doing anything out of the ordinary.

What do I do now? Any ideas?
