Installing Windows XP Service pack 2 on a new hard drive

Question

I have a Dell Precision 380 and am planning to install a new hard drive.  The new hard drive will be the same brand and size as the original hard drive that came from Dell in the computer.  It will be a Seagate 160GB.  I have the Dell installation Windows XP Operating System disk that came with the computer (Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Reinstallation CD). It is a SATA hard drive. After I install the new hard drive which will not be partioned or formatted, I plan to load the operating system in the same way I reformatted the original hard drive in the past.  When I reformatted the existing hard drive in the past I began by pressing the F12 and followed all the on screen directives and had no problem with the installation.  Everything went well. Now my question is will the same procedure work with the new hard drive which is not partioned or formatted.  When I press F12, will I be taken thru the same procedure as before?  Will the operating system as it is installing on the new hard drive partition and format the blank hard drive as it asks me questions during the install?  Will I need to do anything else or just follow the setup as it appears on the screen?  I would appreciate any help or tips.

You may want to slipstream the latest Service Pack and SATA Driver. For best results follow my wiki Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean Install of Windows XP:

I did install the new Seagate 160 GB Hard Drive and used the Dell Windows XP Operating System disk to install the operating system. It did work just as it did before when I was reformatting the old Hard Drive.

The computer is working OK now with the new Hard Drive installed.
