I don't know if you have figured it out yet or not but with your chipset you can't just install the accelerator you have to use the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility. If you look at the following infornation you will see that you have to get a file from the location I have identified below. Good luck.

I found out about the Intel Application Accelerator v2.3 software upgrade out on the PC World most popular utilities list today and checked to see if I had already installed something like that and what I found was that I still had the Dell R47822 V 404.1007, 9/17/2002 file in one of my directories that I had chickened out in installing. After doing some more research out at the Intel web site I realized that the Intel Application Accelerator v2.3 would not work for my chipset and that I needed the full Chipset Software Installation utility package V 5.0.2.1003, 8/27/2003. So I came out here to ask if I should install the older Dell version or the more current version out at the Intel web site. It was lucky for me that I saw your posting and did the research because after going through the same research routine for your problem that I did for mine I got up the nerve to install the most current Intel version and everything went just fine. So no I don't know what more to tell you because I had the exact same situation as you where the PC World Intel Application Accelerator v2.3 software upgrade would not have worked for me but the Chipset Software Installation utility package did work for me and unfortunately did not work for you.

Ok thanks. Guess I'm happy for you...

Well I think that leaves an e-mail to Intel themselves. Can't think of anything else to do. I updated my Bios to A03, installed the newes Chipset drivers, plus ran the chipset identifier util, which shows me that I exactly have the requirements, and it still doesn't want to run.

Well thanks anyway.

Maybe you are lucky, I have not noticed any acceleration at all. In fact to me my system seems a tad bit slower.

That's really strange. Because with my old system I noticed a really big improvement.

Could it be that the 875 already has this accelerator included in the bios?

Actually during my normal type of computing activities I didn't notice any difference but on Friday I downloaded my mutual fund prices and used a couple macros to automatically update the individual spreadsheets that I use to chart the fund prices and I noticed a big improvement in the performance when I was pushing my system to the max in fact I had been very worried that my system had not performed better and could not figure out why. After running my Friday update after having installed the application accelerator patch I am now very happy with the performance of my new system and I am no longer worried that a year or two down the line I will have to upgrade my system to one of the 64 bit cpu's like I was beginning to think I might have to do. I had not gotten around to getting back here and reporting that I had found a significant improvement in the performance in that situation and I felt kind of bad that the original poster of the message here has not been able to install the patch so I kind of felt like I would be rubbing salt into the open wound.
