Intel Chipset installation on Re-Install Guide vs. Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility
Looking for clarification here ... I have a Dimension 8300 running Win XP Pro
I searched and could not find the answer to this... :smileysad:
After I do a clean Win XP installation, I am supposed to download the
Intel® E7520 & Intel® 915 G/P/GV Chipset Driver for Windows XP from Support.Dell.com. The file name is
R79695.EXE (found under Microsoft® Windows® XP Reinstall Guide [ All Desktops and Portables ])
but I also found this in the "Drivers and Downloads" page of Dell.com for my system:
Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility: The file name is R58201.EXE
Are they they same?
Are these found on my factory-issued CD's?
Please clarify. :smileyindifferent:

The file R58201.EXE is the correct file for the 8300. The chipset drivers should be on the facory issued Dell Resource Cd or Dell Utilities CD that came with the 8300.
