Internet Explorer Secondary Window problem
This new problem occurs when I click a link that opens a secondary window :
- the window opens blank (hourglass icon)
- I press Escape and the "Action cancelled" window is displayed
- I "Refresh" and the desired secondary window displays normally
This happens all the time on some pages (e.g. the registration page to this forum), never on others (e.g. CNN)
I cannot think of any recent configuration change that could have caused this. This is what I have tried, with no result:
- temporarily set Internet Security level to LOW
- reinstalled Internet Explorer 6
- disabled all Firewalls, popup stoppers, virus checkers, etc.
If someone can point me in the right direction, I'll be most grateful.
Phil

I have also followed the instructions in Microsoft article #281679. No difference!

I had run the latest AdAware but not SpyBot. I'll try it next.
Thanks for the advice.

Since most of the problems being reported with Internet Explorer these days are due to spyware and other internet parasites, check your system for the presence of this garbage and remove all that it finds. See the message from ChrisRLG at the top of this forum:

Well, I have run SpyBot... and AdAware again. Problem is intact.
