Lost Factory Image - Inspiron 15R (N5010). Windows 7 64-bit

Hello.

Hope someone can help.

I bought my laptop approx 18 months ago, a few days ago I carried out a factory reset (F8) however now I keep getting the below windows update failure -

1) - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2739159)
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 800B0100

2) - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2563227)
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 8024200D

3) - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2533552)
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80073712

I've tried the solutions on the Microsoft website with no success, having looked around at various discussion threads online it looks like my image reset has corrupted windows.

I was going to try another reset and update however now when I press F8 I only get the repair system and restart as normal options,

I have the drivers and utilities disk that came with the laptop but don't know if an image is on this.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated, should you be able to help me please bear in mind I am no computer expert.

Many Thanks

Chubbs

Hi Chubbs,

Let’s try few troubleshooting steps.

Step 1: Below are the steps for last good configuration.

  • Boot to the Last Known-Good Configuration
  • Power on the system.
  • Press <F8> when the message for troubleshooting and advanced startup options for Windows, press F8 appears.
  • Choose Last Known-Good Configuration.

Step 2: Use System Restore to Revert to a Previous State.

  • Restart the computer.
  • Tap <F8> during startup until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
  • Press <Down Arrow> until Repair Your Computer is highlighted, and then press <Enter>.
  • In the System Recovery Options window, click to select your language, and then click Next.
  • Log in as a user with administrative rights, and click OK.
  • From the Choose a recovery tool menu, click System Restore.
  • In the System Restore window, click Next.
  • Click the Show restore points older than 5 days checkbox for a complete listing of restore points.
  • Click to select a restore point.
  • Click Next and then click Finish.
  • Click Yes in the confirmation window.
  • Click Restart after system restore successfully completes.
  • If you encounter any error messages during the restore process, follow the on-screen instructions to correct the error.

If the above method of system restore would not work then try using the below link to do system restore with another method.

If the above steps would not work try Factory reset by using below mentioned link:

Below link would help you with reinstallation of operating system:

Note: Back up data before doing an Operating system reinstallation/Factory reset.

Awaiting your response!

Thanks & Regards
