Lost mouse cursors file
Have A Dell Dimension 4600 with 512 RAM, 20 Gig HD.
Last week, I did a complete re-format & clean install of Win Xp.
I then slowly (once per day) added programs like Ipod for Windows,
Omnipage Pro, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Earthlink, Kazaa Lite and the
PC worked fine.
However, within the past few days, when I tried to re-configure my
PS2 mouse, I found out that the cursors file (C:\Windows\cursors)
is completely empty (it was present on the initial startup after re-install of
winxp).
Question: Does anyone know how to extract this file from the Win Xp CD
to copy it back to windows, or is there a site where I can obtain this file??
Thanks

There are 173 cursors in XP. You could expand them one by one from the XP Reinstallation CD but it would take forever. Try system file checker to see if it will replace them (doubtful). Go to Start|Run, type sfc /scannow and click OK.
If that does not replace them click my user name to see my email address and send a me a request for them. I'll send them back as an attachment which you can simply save to your hard disk, the open, and copy/paste the individual files into the Cursors folder.

Thanks for the info.
I sent you an e-mail about getting those cursor files.
(Tried the file checker without any help)
Again, thanks.

I didn't receive it (or it was inadvertently deleted). If it was sent when you posted please send it again (or list your email address here).

Thanks for the heads-up.
I'll re-send the request now (7-12-04 1:30 PM)
