M60 Video Problem with XP sp2: Please Help!
I've tried upgrading to XP sp2 too many times to count and everytime I end up with my laptop video doing this wierd thing. After 30 seconds or so after booting windows, it goes black, with colored vertical lines slowly filling the screen. It's completely unusable. I've had to try operating with just XP sp1 and now, given many new applications including Norton Internet Security 2007, I must get XP sp2 loaded or I cannot use such programs.
Any ideas?
I originally thought it might be a video driver issue, but each try to use a new driver has yielded the same result.
Is this a known issue?
Thanks for any help/ideas.

1) Backup all your important files on the Windows partition
2) Save Windows XP SP2 and ALL your necessary drivers on a CD or external drive, such that you can install them later *without* connecting to the net. Beware that if a driver needs SP2, you have to install it AFTER you install SP2
3) Install Windows SP1 and ALL the drivers for your computer (see above regarding drivers) with FORMATTING the Windows partition, but WITHOUT connecting the computer to the net. DO NOT install any other programs. If you have Windows XP SP2 disk (which I don't think from what you say), you can skip the saving and installation of SP2
4) Install SP2 and see how it works after you reboot the system
5) If everything is OK, connect the computer to the net and make ALL Windows updates
6) If everything is OK, the problem is NOT from SP2 or your drivers, it resides in one of your other programs.
If your computer does not work after you have installed SP2 and NO OTHER non-Windows programs, then you have a hardware problem with your computer.

Later edit: By non-Windows programs I mean any program which is not a part of Windows operating system. For example, Norton Internet suite is such a non-Windows program, because you don't get it installed when you install Windows. Even Microsoft Office is a non-Windows program regarding what I want to say above.
