Kramer, I notice you are new on the forum.  We, on the fourm, try to answer the original posters question or try to resolve their problem, not tell them to use something else. 

i use my 2400 as an all around pc. i just dont use it for one thing. i use it for storing music, photos, and videos, editing videos, playing video games like halo and microsoft flight simulator 2004, school - MS office 2003, internet - surfing and email etc. and thats basically it. My main question is that, does mac computers have a great advantage in multimedia over windows? Personally, I'd rather not use Linux.

what do you mean mac is merging with windows?!? If so, i would have heard about it already. mac and windows are competitors. Do you mean wait for vista and see the "eye candy". Im not so sure ill upgrade to Vista as soon as it comes out. + im not so sure if itll be such a good idea with my dells. If vista will run similar on my dells like xp ill get it. If it makes them run SLOOW then i wont. My 2400 boots under a minute, loads all apps except games under 5 seconds. If i have to spear some power okay fine, if i have to spare a whole lot, forget vista. Besides Vista could be worse than xp, which i doubt.

Since mac is merging with windows I would sit back and wait especially with the new vista os coming out in Jan....
