MY Altec Lansing speakers won't make sound

Question

I resently re-installed windows XP to fix dozens of problems but when i i just fixed my cable modem now the speakers won't sound i have tried all the trouble shooters but they unfortunatly do not work please help.

did you install your soundcard drivers, or, the drivers for the integrated sound, if you use that? look in the device manager to see if there are any yellow question marks indicating that some drivers have not been installed.. (start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager).. also, you could look in 'dell support' / reinstall guide, for 'audio'..

Try looking for a copy of your order invoice or packaging form. If you dont posess one physical copy then go to order support at the top of the page.

Right click My computer , properties left click , left click hardware and find and left click device manager. go to sound ,video and game left click the + right click your particular device and left click update driver.Note:You may want to see if the driver is already installed first. To do so click properties instead of update driver. Hope this helps

i would look at the 'reinstall guide' in 'dell support'..  if you have integrated sound or the creative labs sounblaster live sound card, or the turtle beach santa cruz sound card, you can download the latest drivers from dell support/downloads.. if you have the creative labs audigy 2 sound card, you will have to install the driver on the 'audigy 2' disk that came with your computer..

if you go to dell support (click 'product support', above), go to 'troubleshooting', there is an option to get information on your original configuration, or to have your computer scanned for the current configuration.. the only difference would be if you (or someone else) have replaced parts in your dell.. if you scan for 'current configuration, likely the scan will report which soundcard you have, or if you have integrated sound.. (after you run the scan, click 'hardware')  if you are 'lost', there is helpful information in 'dell support'.. Message Edited by redwolfe_98 on 07-15-2004 03:52 AM
