Make Disk Defragmenter wake up from sleep?
I have the Vista Disk Defragmenter set to automatically defragment at 2 am to avoid it defragmenting when I am using the computer. However, every night I put the computer into sleep to keep the noise down (3 hard drives = lots of noise).
However, it does not wake up the computer from sleep, which is a nuisance.
How can I make it wake up the computer from sleep?
Thanks!

Did you know that Vista defrags all drives automatically by default, if the PC is left on and is not being used.

Mombo can you provide a link that references this statement...this could explain why lot of users are seeing a constant disk activity light on their systems.....
thanks

That, and Vista is constantly indexing all your files.

The Vista defragmenter is a semi-automatic defragmenter, actually more like a scheduled defragmenter that works by using I/O sensing to an extent. IIRC, it's default scheduled start time is Wed 0200h, but it can run for ages until it's done (and it's s.l.o.w).
If you don't like the scheduled defrag route (many don't seem to), you can look into automatic defragmenters. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=fully+automatic+defragmenter&meta=
They are not free, but have quite a number of useful features, and defragment in the background using only idle resources, so performance is not hit. They also defrag fast, and you will not need to keep the PC on just to defrag. Some can often defrag even in low space conditions (< 5% disk space), and have vista friendly VSS-defrag options.

Thanks for the replies!
Oh well I guess i'll just have to leave it on and get used to the noise.
