Manual removal of Software programmes

Question

For some reason the install/uninstall wizard gets interupted when I try to uninstall Paper Port 8 SE from my Windows XP.Does anyone know how I can uninstall this programme manually without going to the install/uninstall programmes section of my control panel? Thanks

Tried doing it in safe mode? (Press F8 before XP starts to load.) Ron

Hi Ron I'm a complete dummy when it comes to doing stuff other than switching on the computer! So when you say, try doing it in safe mode... well I start to panic! I tried hitting F8 prior to windows booting up and I got a window asking me about how I wanted to boot up at which point I hit escape as I had no idea what to do at that point! If you could be a bit more specific I would really appreciate it! Thanks Liz

When you get to that screen after pressing F8, select Safe Mode and allow the system to boot. Your desktop will look 'funny' and some hardware won't work because their drivers aren't loaded in Safe Mode. Just try to run the uninstaller for that application while in Safe Mode. Then shut down normally and reboot normally.

Well Ron.... It looks as if the software has been removed somewhere along the line but still shows up in my install/remove programmes in the control panel ! It doesn't show up when I go into programmes from the start menu.Very odd!I'm assuming it's gone.Had to remove it due to conflicts with a design software that I have.Again thanks for your help! Liz
