McAfee registration

Question

When I go to verify my registration it tells me that it doesn't have any info. I purchased the computer October of 05 and want to upgrade the software what should i do?

Better still--buy a better suite at retail and uninstall McAfee. Did you register at the McAfee site last October? Dell did not register the McAfee software for you. Use McAfee chat at their support site for more help. Message Edited by Mary G on 08-11-200605:01 PM

Dell doesn't register McAfee software that comes pre-installed on their systems. You're supposed to do that. If you didn't register before the free trial expired, you can uninstall it and buy the latest version of whatever antiviral-ware you prefer.

Definitely, prowl around on the net. I was able to find McAfee VirusScan v10 for $45 at amazon.com and it came with free shipping and $20 (amazon) and $25 (mcafee) rebate coupons, so the first year is totally free. If I'm lucky, there'll be a similar deal when the current subscription expires. ;)
