I would love to have this as a non hidden partition. But since it says" insert the cd",we will more than likely have to contact dell for them. And i would assume it would only be for the newer laptops with Blue Ray drives.
Mine was shipped with 3 and I have 4.7 sounds like you have another clueless dell employee (no offense to the smart employees that work for dell, your valued but rare.)
Update: I have installed 4Gig of RAM on my inspiron 6400, I have installed the original harddrive and reinstalled vista home basic oem with vista business upgrade slipstreamed with sp1. This time I have got the media direct update files saved to hard drive.
What I don't understand is how anyone on v3 has been able to update to v4.7. They are both completely different beasts in that v3 needs a separate partition on the drive to run outside of windows, whereas v4.7 just installs on the C drive alongside the main OS. For those who have just upgraded has this MD partition been removed then?

Would you by chance had saved the update? I just can't get it despite trying for hours.

No sorry I haven't.
All I did was open Media Direct and go to update, had to do this 2 or 3 times.

Same as me then, although I have noticed little difference in the update.
If your still having problems, irfans what system are you using?
I assume its a Inspiron 1420 with vista. If so try this here and then try updating after a reboot:

Yea.. I'm using a 1420. How did you know that?! :smileywink:
Btw, I still can't go beyond version 3.3.3404. Was the Version 4 update sent as a full installation or a patch?
Thanks!

Hehe I've been stalking you :P.
As a patch, could it possibilly be a firewall issue blocking the updates?

I doubt... because I was able to receive two patches for version 3.3
I emailed Dell and they replied my system was shipped with version 3.3 and it cannot be upgraded.
