Ramesh,
I have tried the first part of your suggested solution which involved trying to set a different mail client and then re-doing the procedure and setting my preferred email client again and that did not work.
When I tried the regedit.exe new string value, I am unable to find the branch:  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto.  Can you help me with that?
Thanks,
Don

Hi Don,

The mailto key need to be present in order for the mailto: protocol links to work. Try this:

Click Start, Run and type:
cmd.exe /k reg query hkcr\mailto
Press Enter.

Copy the output and paste it in your reply.

Hi donzoni,

It's evident from the output that the default mail client is not correctly set. See if the DefaultMail utility helps.

Other options

If you're using Outlook Express, execute these commands from Start, Run:
"%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /REG
-and-
regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msoe.dll"

Ramesh,
Do you recommend me running the Registry Mechanic 5.2 that is freeware on your website?  I would really love to try it to see if it stops these Outlook problems and other slow performance problems on our computer.

Don,

Registry cleaner is not required. Have you tried the steps I posted earlier?
