Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error

When I try to visit certain websites [ i.e. greatestjournal.com, and sometimes it just pops up randomly], I get an error message that says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error.  Program: C:\Program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe." I have to click "ok" or else everything freezes. I used to have limewire, but I deleted it, thinking it could have installed something to make this error message keep appearing, but the message shows up anyways. I'm thinking I have some more things unintentionally installed on my computer [ I have a laptop [ dell latitude] ], but I really don't know how to get the message to stop showing up. This problem just started occuring today. I tried searching through the forum for some site to remove all spyware, but I can't get to the site because of the error message. Someone help, please.

Are you able to download anything from the Web at this point? If so, follow these instructions:

Download, install, update and run Ad-Aware and Spybot as described in this article. If you continue to experience problems, the next step is to download and install HijackThis, a malware analysis and removal tool, as described here, and submit a log to the expert volunteers in the Virus Information and Removal board for review. Be sure to post the log in a new message, and describe the problem you're experiencing.

If you cannot download anything directly to the infected machine, you should be able do the downloads on another machine, then copy all the programs onto a floppy, and transfer them to the infected machine.
