Mini9 runtime error 216
Starting from this morning, there is a runtime error 216 @ 004058FF pop-up everytime when I open a new application regardless online or offline. My computer is still under warranty. However, Dell support indicates that it is a software issue and my one year warranty does not cover software problems. I need to pay $239 for a one year software warranty so that Dell will fix the problem. I would appreciate it if someone could help me to resolve this problem. The computer still works, but I would like to get rid of this error.
Thanks!
Tom

Try using Windows System Restore to a date just before problem started
If it doesn’t then it could be Malware?

Thanks! I just find a solution from a website. The problem is fixed. To find out whether the virus has infected your computer, you need to check the running processes by using the window task manager. If you see the F3C74E3FA248.exe, your computer is being invaded by the virus. I have download the SRENG and find the location of the virus 1DBD6574-D6D0-4782-94C3-69619E719765 and remove it. There is no more runtime error 216 and my computer is running at normal speed now. By spending two hours to search for the solution and removing the virus, I have saved $239 one year Dell software warranty.

Wow that was quick – some good news then, thanks for the feedback :emotion-21:
Not sure what you downloaded & used for registry repairs, but just to play on the safe side, you may want to create a new thread in Malware Removal Forum click here – it’s your call
Explain original problem & what you did to fix it
Before posting in Malware Forum read the “sticky” first thread by Bugbatter
Presumably (?) from http://www.kztechs.com/eng/index.html
