Musicmatch Jukebox Line In Recording Problem

In Musicmatch Jukebox Plus, when I attempt a line in recoding from an outside audio source, I click the start recording button, but then I get a RUN ERROR /ABNORMAL PROGRAM TERMINATION box.  How can I resolve this problem?

The easy answer is to uninstall MMJB+ and then reinstall it. This procedure is commonly used to remove/replace corrupted registry entries, program files, and assure the default setting of program configuration options.

You might also try running Windows Sound Recorder or a similar program to see whether the problem is isolated or common, and check for any suspect configuration settings in Windows Control Panel (Sound/Audio) and MMJB.

Additional information regarding your model, operating system, and revision level of MMJB might be helpful to address specific details.

If I uninstall then reinstall MMJB will I lose all the songs currently in my music library?  FYI-- It's a Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP and MMJB Plus 10

Thanks

No, like other programs and user data files, the music files should be stored by default in user data folders (like My Documents / My Music or C: / Documents & Settings / All Users / Shared Documents / Shared Music), not in a program folder belonging to MMJB (typically found in C: / Program Files / MusicMatch). The uninstallation of MMJB or any program will remove some or all of it's program folders, but should not impact any user data files even though they are associated with the program. It might be possible that your music files are saved in a MMJB program folder and could be lost by uninstalling MMJB, but not likely unless you intentionally save them there.

After reinstalling MMJB, it may automatically search your hard drive for music files and enter the appropriate information in the library, or you can direct it to the folder(s) where your music files are saved. The library information is obtained from ID3 tags within the music files themselves, so the music and information about the song (Artist, Track Title, et.) are largely independant from the player or library.

Additional consideration might be necessary to assure MMJB+ can be successfully reinstalled (CD or download, key to activate the Plus version features, ...) and if the songs include digital rights management (DRM), there may be a need for extra steps to assure your permissions of use are preserved, though I would expect they are preserved with the data files.

One note, the Windows Sound Recorder only records from the mic input.
