My Dell Downloads isn't working, Anyone Else Having Problems?

Hi

I have an Alienware M17x R3, which I have Recently done a clean install on,

After doing some research I installed all the drivers from the Dell drivers page in the correct order and have got 99% of my hardware working.

Then I wanted to re-install some of the software that came with my computer, (like the blu-ray software as my blu-ray drive refuses to accept blurays currently) and this brought me to the My Dell Downloads page.

After agreeing to the terms and conditions and clicking register system I agree to let all sorts of software scan my computer the "Examining your computer please
wait ..." message comes up and then a  "xmlError: [object Error]"   dialog box comes up, after clicking Ok the site does not progress, it just sits there, I left it over night and in the morning it was still sitting on the exact same page.

I must of tried to enter the "My Dell Downloads" over 20 times in 32 and 64 bit IE, Compatibility Mode on and off, Firewalls and Anti-Virus on and off with no progression on the problem.

This is really annoying as my recovery media has gone AWOL so "My Dell Downloads" is my only realistic optition to get the software that came with my computer back

Does anyone know of a fix for this? or is anyone having the same problems as me? any help would be appreciated.

Hi mitch8198,

It would be annoying when you receive an error message while trying to download software from the website. My Dell Downloads web site is working properly. I suggest you to disable the pop up blocker and allow the script to run. Please reply to this message with a screenshot of the error, if you experience the same error.

Also try InPrivate Mode (32 bit Internet Explorer).

Open 32 bit Internet Explorer and press [Ctrl], [Shift] and

together. Try registering, if that doesn't matter contact DELL-Roshan L as instructed by Rick.

Thankyou everyone for the help, DELL-Roshan L managed to fix my problem, it turns out the previous owner of the computer had already set up a My Dell Downloads account.

So this computer was removed from the previous owners account and everything logged in perfectly!

I appreciate all the help I was given

Hi Abhinavmishra07,

It might be an issue with the software or the hardware of the computer. Let’s try the following steps. Run the diagnostics to check the hardware functionality.

To run ‘Dell Diagnostics’

  • Power off the computer
  • Restart the computer, press F12 on the Dell logo
  • Select ‘Diagnostics’ from the boot menu
  • Please refer to the link if any error code shows up http://dell.to/OUGnqT

Alternatively, check in Safe mode:

  • Power off the computer
  • Restart the computer, tap F8 on Dell logo 2-3 times
  • This will take you to ‘Windows Advanced Boot Options’
  • Choose ‘Safe Mode’ in the Advanced Boot menu (use ‘up’ or ‘down’ arrow keys to highlight the option, press ‘enter’ to select)
  • When Windows finishes loading in Safe mode, check if the computer is working fine

Please reply with the findings.
