No Keyboard in Safe Mode

I can't use the keyboard when I boot into safe mode. If I try to use it, the computer freezes and I have to reboot.

I don't have a USB keyboard or mouse. I had this problem several years ago. Since then, I've reformated the hard drive. At the time, they told me to disable hyperthreading. Which I have no idea how to do.
