NotifyAlert.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services error msg FIX!!!

Hurray!  Here's the (aesthetic) fix to stop the nuissance error (above) that continues to pop up everytime you power up your Dell computer --No thanks to Dell, of course . . .

Use file search to locate your NotifyAlert file location.  You may see a few files listed, but look for the one that has no additional extensions after the file name.  For me, I found it at:

       C:\Program Files\Dell\Support\Alert\bin\NotifyAlert

Right click once on the correct file listing (out of the one's that show up) and select Rename.  Simply place a single "_" in front of the file name (i.e., _NotifyAlert) and hit "OK."  Now reboot your computer and see if, in fact, that has done the trick.  It worked like a champ on my Dell Inspiron 5100 that runs on Windows XP, and had no adverse effect on any program or function.  Give it a try!

Good luck!

Hi,
BTW, that is a process that is being launched at startup

start--run--regedit
U will find it under the following key as an entry in the right pane, deleting that entry should take care of the issue as well.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Als check under the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Thank you SO MUCH!!!!  Your fix worked perfectly.  This has been driving me buggy for weeks and couldn't find a solution anywhere!!

Cheers,

Chete9 are you still out there?  None of my file names end with NotifyAlert????  They only have the word Alert in the file name.  They all end in bin or en or bin-us??

Hope you can help me.

Thanks.  I'm getting Fatal Engine Execution Error 0x7927baca.  I installed an Outlook overlay from Stephen Covey and everything went haywire.  I blew it by also uninstalling my .net framework.

Dear Needlepoint,

I certainly don't want to mislead you into thinking that I'm a computer guru, but if your error message is verbatim to the one I've listed, then I think there's hope.  Please try again, using your file search to locate the following point in your C:\ drive:

C:\Program Files\Dell\Support\Alert\bin

Once here (in XP), you might see two folders labelled bin and help.  Double-click on the bin folder and, hopefully, you will see the NotifyAlert (NotifyAlert.exe) file that we need.  If you're using some kind of search tool that specifies what kind of file you want to locate, make sure that you've selected all files *.*  so that everything is visible.  If you finally find it, just add a "_" in front of this file's name and save.  This should do the trick . . .  Good luck!
