Opening password protected word pad doc.

A friend sent me an e-mail with a password protecter on it.

I've got the password, but don't know where to access it to open

the document.  Help...

It was probably created in Word, not Wordpad (as far as I know that does not have the option to password protect a document). You would need to open it in Word, then you get a box to type the password in.

PS I just tried to use Wordpad to open a password protected doc file (created in Word): it doen't work, you get a message  'an unexpected error occurrred'. Unprotected .doc files created in Word do open in Wordpad.

monkey444, are you sure it's really a WordPad document, and not a trojan? Please check with your friend and be certain they actually sent you this file! It may be that their machine was infected with a worm like this one, and the file was sent without their knowledge.
