Operating System CD Request
Hello there.
I bought my Dell Dimension 3100 from eBay with a Genuine Dell product key for Windows XP Professional. Although, I did not receive the OS Disc of the Drivers disc. Is there a way that I can get these? I have tried the "Request Backup CD's" option from Dell, but that requires that you have a valid dell order.
Thanks.

As long as you have an authentic Windows Product Key for the Operating System that is installed on the PC there is no problem, as any O.S. for the same version can be used.
I'm wondering if you can burn a copy of it? It's the Key that is important and necessary.

It may be genuine but it may not be for the OS that is installed on that PC. Check to see that you have the correct Key.
There are a few ways to do this:
One is to go here http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
The other is to Google, Belarc Advisor and download that and included in the information it returns there will be the Key for the PC's OS that is installed.
Also look on the My Computer Property page it may be there

I have a Microsoft copy of Windows XP Professional, but the key won't work with it. I know it's genuine because I checked with Microsoft.
