Outlook Express 6 Error Messages
Any help is appreciated!
I recently transfered all of our pictures and documents via a cable router. Then the next day I did all my email and internet settings from my old pc which was running Windows ME to my new Dell which is running XP the exact same way but I made sure to select the files I wanted to transfer.
When it was transfering I noticed it was transfering pictures that I did the day before but I didn't select them this time around but I don't have double of all of our pictures.
Now I'm getting these messages in Outlook Express 6 :
When I click on create email I get:
There was an error opening this message, An error has occured also
The Address Book failed to load. Outlook Express is incorrectly configured, please re-install.
When I click on address book I get:
Unable to open the Address book. The address book may not be installed properly.
Now when I go to switch identites I have double the amount of identies, 2 in my name, 2 under my
wifes name but it didn't duplicate one other one which is weird.
I'm also receiving 2 emails of everything as well now.
I've been searching Dell and Microsoft boards and I thought I found something to fix it which I found on Microsofts site and that is it could be a damaged wam32.dll file, but it will not run from the Windows XP cd.
Then I thought about uninstalling and re-installing Outlook express from whe WindXP cd but I'm not sure thats the correct thing to do.
The only other thing I can think of doing is to do a system resotre to yesterday and then I'll have to re-do everything. Which also included installing a printer but would it be better to uninstall it first than do a system restore ?
My head hurts!
So how do I go about fixing this?
Sorry it was so long, thanks for reading it!
Dan
P.S.
I cannot believe I can't get support on this from Dell tech service!
I thought this would at least be covered under the 1 year term.
That really burned me up being on hold for 20 min to find out I have
to pay an extra $40 for software support for a one time fix!

Husky,
First thing that you should consider is that reinstalling Outlook Express would wipe out everything - all e-mails, settings, address book and so on.
Do a backup of these before. Use the Advanced Search option on this forum to find links about how to do that. If it doesnt work, you have to live with a backup from your old computer (which still should hold all the files you mentioned - or did you delete them?)
You're probably right about Tech Support - they would advise you to reinstall XP and not care about any backup.
