Outlook Express Spell Check
Hi,
I am new to this board so I hope I don't make too many mistakes.
Here is my problem:
I have XP (home ed.) on my new Dell (about 3 months old now) and the Spell Checker stopped working after I did a the Windows Critical Updates for my computer two days ago. The spell check was working fine before and now it is kaputz. I know that if I had Word, Excel or Powerpoint installed that it would function again but I can't figure out why it did work before doing the updates? I was told that if I install Front Page or Publisher and then uninstall that the spell checker might be left behind. Has anyone done this?? Any clues??
Thanks...

I have no idea why you had a spell checking capability without having Word, Excel, or PowerPoint installed on your system. Installing FrontPage or Publisher will not help, as only the three programs you mentioned provide spell checking for Outlook Express.
A free spelling checker for OE for those who don't have the Microsoft programs installed is available here.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Why OE spell check worked before and not now will remain a mystery but it did work. I thought maybe something I downloaded might have changed the way OE worked.
I will try your suggestion.
Again thanks.
