If you were given a DELL computer as a gift and you want to transfer the ownership of the computer to your name. All you need to do is to get the info first from your friend like: Name, address, phone number and either service tag or express service code. Because what will be asked from you by the customer service reps is for you to be able to identify the prev cust owner of the computer then they will be able to assist you in transferring the ownership to your name.
I got this laptop as a gift with a 5 year warranty and tried transfer registering on the site mentioned in this forum and waited for the email confirmation but did not come from last few days till now.
Is there some other way to get the registration transfered in my name.
It can take up to 30 days. Try contacting Dell (via link at the bottom of this page) to see if the change went through.
