For the printer
try that
go to start and type in the white line device manager and hit enter
now expand the last one Universal Serial Bus controllers.
and choose the last long line with USB2
right click on it and choose Disable.
it will work
try your printer now
if not back again and make it enable
and tell us is that help you or not ..
done

actually i was trying to install a lexmark p4350 driver for vista after removing the previous xp driver i had before the upgrade and since going to vista have yet to get it to do so as i get a spooler error and that it is off. if i can just get back to it not prompting me for the same driver 50 times i figure i can get to a solution on the printer unless you have any ideas on that too?

I think the problem from your VGA card adapter, but IM not sure
Try this
Method 1
Uninstall your VGA card and re install it again.
Method 2
Go to safe mode and device manager Right click on your VGA adapter and choose properties then choose driver and roll back driver, restart your computer And tell us is that help or not
