Printing Photos MGI PhotoSuite & Lexmark 85 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier

Hi, I am a first time user and have spent days reading tons of material and still have been unable to print a single photo.  I end up with a very small portion of shoulder(not a clue how that happens) or completely blank pages even though the edited photo....just the way I want it to print appears on my screen.  I don't understand.  When I do get an image, I haven't a clue what I did to accomplish it.  When one thing failed.....I tried something else.  Nothing really useful.  I am trying to print my sons Graduation & Tux Photo to a 5x7 size for relatives as Christmas gifts.  I can't even find a "size" I under stand.  Does anyone have the time to simply guide me through this?  I really need you help.  Your assistance will be GREATLY appreciated.  Thank you.  Joy55

Your issue isn't a Windows XP problem and should have been posted in the Other Software.  However, what version of MGI Photosuite are you using? it can make a difference.  I have several versions and the printing function in each one is different.  (You should also always include your PC model number and Operating system version on any initial problem post).

However, you should be getting "what you see" in the printing section.  Does the Lexmark print correctly on printed text or printing Internet Explorder pages?  If other applications printing is not correct either then it's not the photo programs but some other overall issue, such as the printer drivers/setup.  There has been a lot of interface (communications) issues with the X.. series of Lexmark printers.  Make sure you have the latest updated drivers from Lexmark as there has been some fixes.

Fireberd, I apologize for not responding this early morning.  I waited for a reply, tried a few other things and finally had to call it quits.  I had been at it for about 12 hours and my old eyes could not last any longer.  Thank you for responding so quickly.  I told you I am new at the computer and new at this board.  You are very kind for trying to help.  In reply to your questions, I think the computer is a Dell 2350 and the GSI PhotoSuite is 8.1 or 4.  Two different bits of information comes up when I view this on my compuer.  There is no printed booklet.  YES I can print other items.  However, the Lexmark 85 has shown me a SYSTEMS ERROR 000 several times and has stopped printing in mid printing.  I don't understand.  Also, when I see the exact item I wish to print  on my screen, several times it has printed and I get only a small portion of the shoulder of the black tux and white shirt...just a very small image piece.  Thank you again for trying to help this little old Mother.  My son, 18, would agree with you, "Pedal Steel Guitar Rules".   Joy55  Merry Christmas!    I will try today.  I'm sure you are at work or in school.

Hi Fireberd aka Jack,  This is Joyce again.  I hope you received my letter of gratitude.  You are the ONLY person I have talked with that seems to know what I'm talking about.  I have talked with Lexmark Tech....referred by Dell Tech.  He worked over an hour with me.  We resolved the SYSTEM ERROR MESSAGE 000 (Cleaned Cartridges and reinstalled)  No new error messages so far.  He was unable to help me print a 5 x 7 photo appearing on my screen to paper.  Once we printed neck to top of head....missing upper body...shoulders tux.shirt & tie (School Yearbook Photo for relatives for Christmas)  Have been successful printing 2 x 5 actual size after editing  but I could do that without a Techs help. I actually helped him along a very little bit but I am not successful.  Thanks again.  I hope you saw that my GSI PhotoSuite is 8.1 and my computer is Dell 2350.  Yes I can print other things other than this particular picture I see on my screen....it appears large but the only thing I can do is to print actual size 2 x 3.....even after increasing 150%...200%  changing pixel sizes.  Please, I hope you come back on and we can IM and you can help me.  Is it the print program.  What would you sugggest buying?  I need this today.  Thank you so much for your kindness and patience and for acknowledging a soon to be "55" year old mother of an 18 year old son (Birthday next Tuesday).  I lived in Nashville for 15 years and worked for a few years for an advertising agency.  Music business is fun.  If you have a chance, please contact me.  I have to run out for awhile but will be back in about an hour.  I may even purchase some kind of new photoprint program while I'm out.  I have wasted 4 days  reading and experimenting and I need to complete this job in a big hurry.  If I don't hear from you, I do hope you and your family have a happy holiday.  Greatly appreciating you assistance.  Joyce ...Joy55
